Patient Services Representative Summary Responsible for performing a variety of clerical duties on behalf of patients, physicians and other members of the clinic.
Essential Functions:
Answer telephone, screen calls, take messages and provide information.
Greet, screen, schedule, and direct patients.
Prepare and process correspondence.
Answers routine medical inquiries and draft letters.
Obtain, verify, and update patient information and provide support services to patients and medical staff.
Request, locate, send, and receive patients' medical records.
Maintain appointments for patients.
Prepare electronic patient charts.
Maintain electronic patient files and assist in establishing office systems.
Order office and clinical supplies.
Assist in the care and maintenance of office equipment.
Maintain the strictest confidentiality.
Follow HIPAA regulations.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge of medical terminology and office procedures.
Knowledge of grammar, spelling, and punctuation to type from draft copy, review, and edit reports, and correspondence.
Knowledge of basic arithmetic to make calculations, balance and reconcile figures, and make changes accurately.
Skill in operating a computer, telephone, and copy machine.
Ability to type 50 wpm.
Ability to read, understand, and follow oral, and written instructions.
Ability to sort and file materials correctly by alphabetic or numeric systems.
Ability to communicate clearly and concisely.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.
Minimum
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
1 year - Experience using a personal computer including MS Office suite.
Typing skills - 40 wpm.
Ability to work independently and demonstrate initiative and flexibility within a team environment.
