Staff Nurse - GI Clinic - 14-1101692 - Department of Veterans Affairs (Redding, CA)

POSITION
Summary:
Utilizes the nursing process to access, coordinate, facilitate and deliver direct patient care to patients undergoing GI, Pulmonary and Endoscopic procedures.
Formulates an interdisciplinary plan of care and documents assignments, interventions, and referrals in the computerized patient record system, meeting CPG/PI indicators.
Develops and coordinates care and utilizes quality assurance programs to monitor the delivery of care.
Responsible for educating patients and family members.
Responsible for the delivery of all aspects of patient care including procedural sedation and serves as resource to the GI Services.
Must be able to float to other departments, after appropriate orientation, as needed.
Must be able to do IV therapy and therapeutic phlebotomies.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Graduate of an accredited nursing program recognized by the VA (NLNAC, CCNE) is required.
BCLS/ACLS required.
Minimum of one (1) year of successful clinical practice as an RN required.
Previous experience working in GI Suite within the last two (2) years is highly preferred.
Care and preparation of pre and post GI procedure patients is required.
Must be able to read and interpret EKG/monitoring data.
BSN and specialty certification preferred.
Procedural sedation certification preferred.
Demonstrated abilities in establishment of priorities and time management required.
Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a diverse interdisciplinary environment required.

Full unrestricted Licensure, Certification, or Registration required Graduate of a school of professional nursing approved by the appropriate State-accrediting agency and Current, full, active, and unrestricted registration as a graduate professional nurse in a State, Territory or Commonwealth (i.

GRADE DETERMINATIONS:
